Montenegro, also known as Crna Gora (“Black Mountain”) is a small country situated in the Balkans in South East Europe. Its coast lies on the south west of the Adriatic Sea and is bordered by Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia and Albania. Montenegro Territory covers overs 13,800 kmÇ and the country’s population is approximately 680,000.

Climate

Regions along the coastline enjoy a Mediterranean climate, with temperatures reaching over 30°c in July and August. Skiing can be enjoyed in the mountainous areas during the winter. Clear seas reach a temperature of 27°c with up to 60m visibility.

There are 117 sand beaches along the 293km coastline.

 

National Parks

 

There are five National Parks in Montenegro: Durmitor, Biogradksa Gora, Skadar Lake, Lovćen and Prokletije.

Language

​

The official language is Montenegrin. English and Russian are understood and spoken in most tourist areas.

Most nationalities may enter the country visa-free for a period of 90 days.
